James Johnstone Christie 1927 - 2005

At Jimmy Christie's funeral service, the Minister described him as a gentle man, and as a gentleman, and none who knew him will fault this description. Like father, like son, he inherited his calm patience from his father, also James Johnstone Christie, and they both shared a deep interest in Lodge Caledonian, filling minor offices with pride and distinction. Both were called to the highest non-elective office, that of Depute Master, and "JJ Junior" served as Depute to his life-long friend, Bob Foulis, during Bob's tenure of the Chair in the term 1963-64.

Jimmy first saw Masonic light on the 12th of October 1955. He was Passed on the 30th of November 1955 and Raised a Master Mason on the 22nd of February 1956. On the 24th of October of that same year he was Advanced Mark Master. His close friend Bob Foulis' record shows exactly these same dates.

His Masonic record speaks for itself. Jeweller 1959-63, Depute Master 1965, Sword Bearer 1965-67, Tyler 1978-83. Ever willing to serve, always ready to help.

A gentle man, and a gentleman seems a particularly apt epitaph, for most assuredly, he was.
